In Case You Missed It...Fashion Week Happened Last Week
Alas, Fall/Winter Fashion Week came to a close last Thursday and I am just becoming human (clean apartment, regular yoga, drinking things other than Frappaccino and Skinny Pepsi) again.
But I loved the project I worked on for FW, my series for the Wall Street Journal on the unsung heroes of Fashion Week, from
the man who lifts the tents, the dapper guys who toss out gatecrashers, the woman who herds celebrities over to Darryl Nipps who carries a Ziplock bag of nude thong underwear when he dresses models, the professional golfer who checks coats all day, the ice sculptor who prayed it wouldn’t get warm and the man who powders the models breasts (for which Jezebel called me creepy).
I was sitting in the director’s booth at Nicholas K. with Kelly Cutrone
when a model ate runway. Kelly was pissed. I got to chat with NPR about the whole thing, which totally gave me this weird nightmare where Terry gross asked me a question and I got tongue-tied. I was not actually interviewed by Terry Gross.
All in all, this was my favorite fashion week piece since that time I
live blogged the Marc Jacobs show and snuck into his after-party with a trannie. This was different.
